Default Shifter movement

I brought my car in for a 30k maintenence. Anyway the car feels like its dragging itself to me, but anyway my main concern is shifter movement. I have 32k on my car and when Im cruising I notice my shifter move when i accelerate and decelerate. I told acura about the problem and they said everything is fine.

It should move a little. Mine does the same thing. It just moves a lil right. Nothing dramatic?

What do you mean you "see" the shifter moving when you accelerate?

Sounds to me that what you are describing isn't just the shifter moving, but the whole linkage assembly moving when getting on an off the gas due to slack in the rear engine/tranny mount.

Such is life in a car with a solid shift linkage. The engine moves when load is applied, and since the shifter is rigidly mounted to the transmission, it's going to move also.

Cable shifters, on the other hand, should not move while driving. If they do, that means synchro problems (ask me how I know).

You're right Patrick...

That movement can be minimized with poly bushings. Not only for the shifter, but the engine.tranny mounts as well.
