Default b18b question

I am swapping a 99 b18b1 into a 96 civic (d16y7). The problem I am having is the wiring harness. The harness wont plug into the left side of the car(under dash fuse box). I know it can plug into older civics but its not plugging into mine. Any ideas?

You need to use the stock Civic harness. Your Civic uses a 1-piece harness (engine straight to the ECU), where the Integras and older Civics (as you mentioned) use a 2-piece harness.

if I re use my harness I know I have to change the plugs on the iacv and the iat. I'll have to repin the ecu conectors to run the b18 ecu correct?

u will ahve to converts some stuff, dizzy and iacv and i think aosmething else

all u would need to plug the ecu in is a obd2a to obd1 ecu harness jumper(50 bucks)
then ur all set
injectors may need to be spliced also

check the hybrid sticky in the forums

ok well i was examining a b20b harness and i noticed everything is the same on the b18 harness, even the plug to the left side is the same as mine. Its even a one piece harness, the only diff is the ecu pinouts (but my harness and the teggys harness ecu pinouts are all diff aswell ) so if i got the obd2a to obd1 jumper harness am i able to plug in a obd1 b18 ecu ?

why does he have to get a jumper for the ecu? If hes not tuning or chipping he just needs a obd2a ecu.

There really aren't many things that need to be modified on the stock harness, so you should just use it. Injector wiring is the same, distributor wiring is the same (all '96-'01 Integras use the OBD2A style 9-wire distributor plug), and the alternator wiring/plug is the same. So really the only "major" wiring you have to do is the 3-wire IACV to 2-wire IACV.

Seriously, just use your stock harness and you'll be fine. It's more work than it's worth to swap to a new harness.

You use the ECU for which ever harness you're using, or you buy a conversion harness (jumper harness) and use an OBD1 ECU. So if you keep your stock harness, you'll use your OBD2A ECU or you'll buy an OBD1 ECU and get an OBD2A to OBD1 conversion harness.

You can't, you could use a '96 - '98 EX 5 speed harness, but you'd still need to cut and lengthen certain connectors to reach without stretching it.

Use the Integra ECU, '99 Integras are OBD2A, the ECU plugs right in to your factory harness. All you really need to do here is perform the IACV fix and cut and lengthen a few wires, its not rocket science, solder and shrink wrap your connections and you wont have any problems.

Below are a couple of pinouts to help you out:

I recently bought a car with a gsr motor swap. It's a 97 Honda Civic Hatchback. Everything is done but I can't get it to pass OBDII inspection. The scanner will not read off my ecu. What can I do? The ecu is out of a 97 typeR. I'm not sure about the wiring harness.

Most likely the backup fuse is blown, or its a JDM ECU (JDM ECUs will not communicate with a scan tool)
