Default Cometic head gasket leaking

my cometic head gasket is leaking on my boosted teg, i ran thicker gasket to lower compression to be safer on boost. I cant remember exactly how thick it is.. i was wondering if you guys knew of good reliable ones i could get? or if i should just run the stock oem.

Did you have the head/block machined or did you just change the gasket?

cometic makes good gasket imo but did you put in new head studs or keep the oem bolts? maybe the head lifted a little if its boosted on stock head bolts. i have a cometic head gasket .030 in thickness i think and arp head studs on my gsr running 14psi and i haven't had any problems with it 10,000 miles so far

give more info. is it leaking coolant or oil? is it leaking inside or outside of the block? has it been leaking ever since you changed it or just started recently? does it push coolant under boost?

the most common problems have already been mentioned...
1. head/block arent straight so the gasket isnt sealing properly
2. head lift causing it to leak under boost.
3. improper install

also i think most people will reccommend an oem gasket. what engine do you have? you can boost higher compression safely with a proper tune

Hey dpetro1 my d16y8 leaks coolant on the front left corner of the engine..what do you think it could be?? Im in the process of installing my turbo rite now and i already have a new oem head gasket with arp head studs so do you think milling the head has to be done or can i just clean it well and spray copper on the HG to help it seal???.... Not to be a thread jacker but whats the best way to remove the power steering so i can change the HG?

1. cometic makes high quality gaskets
2. if you don't check the deck AND head for trueness and machine if needed anything MLS leaks
3. if you don't use a fine RA wheel or diamond cutter to cut the deck or head it will leak
4. if you don't torque properly or have grime anywhere around it will leak
5. you can use a red jelly assembly lube that helps prevent thread seepage and small oil leaks out of the gasket. it's anaerobic? sealer if i remember right.

its leaking oil, by one corner of the engine around the power steering, its not leaking bad just slight, i pushed it hard and smelled something burning when i pulled over i saw oil on the floor i went in side a store to get groceries and drove it home i boosted it once just to make sure my engine was good, when i parked it, its leaked maybe 1/8th of a quart. I am on a FULL tune and its a b18c1 making 361whp stock motor its a healthy engine and im sure we installed it right but i was thinking of maybe just tightening the bolts to make sure. i wanna know what u guys think. THANKS

I think you need to pull the engine, have the block and head decked, and try again with a new gasket.
