Snapped off front wheel stud
I think that one of my lug nuts got crossthreaded and snapped off the stud. What all is involved in replacing it? Do i have to have it machine pressed? 88 crx dx
take off your wheel and then just tap it out with a hammer. then, get a new one, pull it thru. if u have trouble fitting it thru cuz the stud is too long u may have to spin the rotor around and find a gap that will allow the stud to slide thru. once uve done that take a lug nut turn it upside down and tighten it down along with some washers using an air gun. if u dont have access to an air gun i would take a breaker bar and tighten it down. make sure it is pulled all the way thru and seated properly. then ure done!
Ive been driving on a broken wheel stuf for a few weeks now. I bought a replacement one, but it seemed to me that there was no way of removing the old one wihouth pressing out the knuckle. There just wasnt any room for it to go back into. However, I did not spin it to see if there was an opening in the rotor. I dont remember the stock rotors having any openings in them though.
take off wheel, rotor and caliper, pull the hub out with a puller, then you can change all four if you wanted, it is hard to change it without taking the hub out, as well change the bearing if its old
If you really don't wanna pull the hub apart,
you can cut a hole/slot in the tin dustshield and grund some of the stud (both old and beed) off to get them through.
I did it and don't have any throuble since.
