Default Build what I have or buy another motor?

I need some opinions. I currently have a 2000 Civic SI and the B16 has about 92k miles. I just got my paint redone and have bought some pretty nice parts for the outside, but the motor is 100% stock. I have a built turbo b16 that I am selling and some audio equipment so that leaves me about 4k to play with. I want to do an allmotor+spray build, but for some reason I really want a Type-R engine, and those run about 4k from hmotorsonline.

Should I buy the TypeR, or build my current b16? Keep in mind emissions and the fact that I dont want a super crazy build.

If I decide to build the B16, I plan on pistons/rods, headwork (cams, valvetrain) a nice intake mani, I/E/H and then spray.

Opinions? Thanks alot.

Build an LS bottom end and drop it in there.

If you are gonna build a motor you already have the head (valve job and maybe port work if you can $$$wing it)...all you would need is an ITR block/crank

As far as emmissions go Cali has a ton of rules....dont know where you live...passing the sniffer isnt hard with a good tune but remember the more agressive you go the harder it will be to pass given the NOX content at lower engine speeds.

Most people "have a hookup" to pass the sniffer

Do an F20b on spray - more power everywhere

The only emissions I have to deal with is the OBD2 scan. I live in North Carolina and we dont have the sniffer.

I'm really leaning on just building what I have. Im not sure if I want to spend 4k for a type r swap when I can just basically get everything I'd want to build my current B16 and have money left over.

Get the B18c5 .... that is a drop in 200 hp...it will take ALL your money to get the B16 to that mark and then it will be a peaky no powerband motor.

If I could go back that is what I would have done for a B series.

The F20B will make more power than the ITR swap and cost you LESS money.

H2B FTW!

But the OBD2 scan may be an issue because I would run a P28 with eCtune...dont think an OBD 1 ecu is gonna fly

Tough call

F20Bs are already put together with a larger VTEC head, larger bearings, stronger OEM bottom end and Type S cams....all for $1000-1100 ...add the $750 adapter and you have a much better platform to grow on than a Tiny B16 head with a weak "truck" block.
