B16 build up from the ground up...
ok, I have the know how, the tools, and the time to do it....I'm just a newb when it comes to honda engines. would it be cheaper to just buy the pieces of a B16 engine and put it together than buy one, take it apart and put new internals in it...
my ultimate goal with this project is turbo... so instead of replacing pieces to make the engine more durable I was thinking why not just buy what I want from the start instead of replacing...
is my goal here clear?
any comments would be greatly appreciated...

If building is what you want to do, you should be able to pick up a B16 shortblock for really cheap, even with full internals for about $300. A lot of people sell these cheap after going the LS or CRVTEC route. You could get the shortblock, have it sleeved and do your choice of bore size, compression, etc. The DOHC VTEC heads on the other hand are a little more pricey, about $500 or so used on average. But still in the long run it would be cheaper to buy them separate with your intentions to build it as opposed to a full longblock unless you come across a really good deal.

Re: B16 build up from the ground up... (VTECVillain)
thats what I've found so far while looking.. does anyone have any suggestions for places to buy such parts?
I know I could probably find it searching, but while we are here, can someone brush over the simple diffrences of the longblock and shortblock B16's
thanks
