i have a 92 civic hatch and i got a REALLY rusted tank....makin my K series motor hit lean cut all over the palce. changed the fuel filter fuel pump and the strainer. TWICE it helps for a bit then just gets worse the more i drive it. lots of sputter and missfire at idle.

but ive pretty much come to the conclusion that its not my tune or anything ignition related JUST cause of the fact that its hittin a lean cut. even wasted 20 bucks on a bunch of gas treatment and fuel system cleaner just to humor it. i cant tell if it did anything really....

but my TRUE delima is im looking for a gas tank since i changed everything else fuel related with a no go. but for some reason i cant find one that fits the HATCH...i can find em ALLLLLL day for the coupe and four doors but nothing for the hatch. are the tanks the same or are the completely different and i just HAVE to get a used one and hope for the best? really just wanna get a new one so i wont have to possibly end up with the same problem.....

Just completely guessing here, I'd assume a 2 door tank (if there's a difference) should fit. There are coatings for the inside of your tank if it's rusted...or just pour gas in the spare tire well and stick your fuel pump in there, maybe put some plastic wrap over it so it doesn't slosh out.

 

every place ive tried ive been told that the coupe tanks will NOT fot on HB models.....now if theyre sayin it wont fot on the CX and VX models ONLY i can understand those tanks are aparently smaller. i have a DX model but its a hatch...so it should work out fine then right?

 

You're being told horse hooey. The following tanks will fit your 93 USDM 3dr DX:

92-95
4dr DX, LX, EX
2dr DX, EX
3dr Si, DX

The 3dr CX and VX tanks will also fit your car, but they are smaller capacity.

 

so the only difference is that the cx and vx models the tanks are just smaller....i knew i wasnt crazy......so why would places say that they WONT fit?

 

All gas tank for the Civic 92-95 2/3/4 door are interchangeable. Only true difference is the CX/VX have smaller capacity.

If you want to confirm it. You can cross reference part number on hondaautomotiveparts.com or call you local Honda dealership part/service.
