92 Hatch dies at 1/2 tank
well i have a 92 hatch and it was stock when it had this problem(shes currently getting a motor swap done)
I'd be driving fine until it got between like 1/2 tank and 1/4 tank. it would stumble and die at lights or stumble on acceleration. Then when it died u had to prime the fuel pump a few times and it would start but would keep happenin until i got it to a gas station to fill er up.
i changed the fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator
If anyone can troubleshoot this help me out.
My last guess is that theres to much **** at the bottom of the gas tank. Ive also used fuel system cleaner a few times.
Thanks

Re: (typeRrepEG)
nah i know they were they only thing i didnt change. but i thought since th car ran normal all the way uptil that problem they should be fine. Like if i fill it up at a gas station it runs perfectly fine and u would never know. but its when u get to the lower level that somethin goes wrong.

hmmm how many miles would you go on a tank of gas before this happened, maybe just the guage reading wrong, if you've got like 300 miles on stock motor then you might be running out of gas... maybe

Re: (b204dr)
have you upgraded to a better fuel pump?
the walbro doesn't sit in the tank correctly and will only go to like 1/4 tank..
I cut the end of the metal bracket and zip tied the pump on a lot lower.. no probs now..

Re: (GSlowR)
Ill check the fuel pump today. The gauge is accurate because in the cx i have a 10 gallon tank and when i fill up usually when it gets to 1/2 so i avoid the problem i fill up with ~5 gallons. Before i tore it apart for the swap i would get like 200 miles on 5 gallons babying the car tho no over revs. i mean its a 1.5 nonvtec its not goin anywhere fast anyway

And I will ask again, there is a bag that sits around the pickup in the bottom of the fuel pump, if you took it out, was that there or not? If the little angled tannish bag is not there, you won't hold a prime below 1/3 of a tank or so and any sloshing around will cause it to bog or die. It sounds like that to me.
