Icon6 A/C service valve question

Hi guys

As I'm not that familiar with A/C components would you help me out. In the attached pic you see part number one, service valve cap (low pressure side). Mine has apparently cracked or the like, as the previous owner has used electrical tape to fix it in place. It however leaks tiny amounts of green fluid which cant be good.

Can I just unscrew the cap and replace it, or is the system "pressurized under the cap" and only a mechanic can replace it while the system is empty (before refill)?

I'll order a new cap from honda today anyway, want to have this fixed ASAP.

Thanks!

no there is no presure under the cap, there is a shrader valve under tha cap. most shrader valves do leak by a little bit, and the green stuff is green dye from the oil inside the a/c system. you can just take the cap off and replace it.

yeah man, the installment is as simple as unscrewing the old cap off and screwing the new one on. the caps might be a little tighter then hand tight so you might need to use a pair of pliers
