is it going into an eg or an ek? yes i think it should be quicker than a b16, the torque of the b18 makes the difference there i think.

plenty fast to have fun with. a eg Si completely stock is a very fun car. an 84 rabbit gti with 85hp is a really fun car. its not about the number, its about how well you and the car can use it.

i think they would be putting down very similar hp figures(stock b16 vs minor bolt-on LS) but the torque makes the difference. B18b has quite a bit more than a b16.

vtec is included into the hp figures. a b16 has 160ish with vtec.

but if the b16 has similar upgrades then im afraid the ls would be outmatched.

the b18 will beat a stock b16 from a dig yes. on the freeway probably not, b16 top end is nothing a b18b can compete with... UNLESS you decide to throw a b16 head on there.... then the b16 wont have a chance.

the powerband of the b16 is higher in the rpm range than a b18b.

pretty much takes buying the golden eagle lsvtec kit, and swapping heads.... literally its not too bad anymore if you're mechanically inclined. did my buddies in a day. only thing is a ls block wont keep up with a vtec head properly without a vtec oil pump, water pump, and IMO rods bolts should be done too.

you will need to get a vtec distributor, and that depends on what OBD you decide to use. i like the b16 tranny hands down, cant beat the short gears. i b16 tranny on a lsvtec will smash a b18b tranny on a lsvtec anyday

is the motor in your car obd 0 1 or 2? i like obd1, best for tuning IMO. i run a chipped p28 with my setup and have had no problems with it and love it. just takes either a jumper harness or switching a few plugs here

honestly unless you did the lsvtec correctly with the oil pump, water pump and rod bolts. you will take out reliability and cause for larger problems later on. boosting a LS is one of my favorite setups. good fun power, still potential w/ lsvtec later on and its reliable. my buddy has been running his LST for 2 years now on 9psi making 255whp and 240tq no problems.
