B16 or B18 engine swap for EG hatch
i got a completely stock EG hatch. I am still asking around and thinking about and engine that would best suite me and my car. My drving is from work and back and i still want to smoke people and rip it around the city. and i aint the richest guy either so if anyone has any suggestions as to an engine that would suite me and my car, your opinions are valued.

b16 will be cheaper, but IMO I would save up for the b18. I think you'll be happier. It's much more torquey and such. You could also read the thread at the top of the forum about engine specs on common engine swaps. Compare the b16 and the b18c1. You could also go with a b18b. It's about the same as a b16 and it's inbetween a b18c and a b16 IMO. It's also non-vtec.

From my own experience the b18b is much cheaper then a b16 anywhere I've looked...the b16's I've seen go for around 2g's...while an ls motor you can get for under a grand. Also if you look around on the forum there are several b18b's n/a in the 14's for the quarter mile...I'd say if you're not the richest guy but still want to have fun go with the ls. Things to think about would be a gsr tranny, if you want to go vtec you can always find a b16 head on ebay or something and build it up slowly, or just turbo it with stock internals and still be safe in most cases up to 300hp.
