Default B17A1 swap questions.

I am helping a friend who has a 92 GSR stock that was recently wrecked and we are putting his B17A1 swap from that car into his stock 93 LS daily driver. Both cars were fully intact and running pre-collision. The question I have is reffering to the wiring, what needs to be done/switched over dealing with wiring (besides the motor harness and ecu) to have all aspects of the motor running fine (like vtec ect.). Any input would be great. thanks in advance.

Nate

Ive heard the b17s are a bit wierd. Im not sure 100% what a swap intails. Probably pretty straight forward as far as running a wire for vtec and a knock sensor if its equiped with one.

two ways you can do it, like the others say engine harness and ecu and then run the vtec wires and and knock sensor wire down to the ecu and pin them in the ecu harness, or you can take the harness from inside the car and switch it to the ls. and it would be just like putting a b16 in.

What would be the easier route to take? I have the dash removed from the GS-R and it looks like the interior harness runs through the fire wall into the bay and it looks like everything (ie: headlight wiring) is part of that same harness.

thanks for help

If it was me I would just run the few wires in. I think that that's the easier way but some may disagree.

B17 love!

just do what black da9 says, use the the gsr ecu and just plug it in and run the extra wires for the vtec and the pressure switch, btw you might be able to use the LS engine harness and just cut off the plugs for the vtec switch and the pressure switch from the gsr harnes and run them all the way to the ecu Im not very sure about this but if you want to paly it safe just use the gsr harnes and get a wiring diagram for both vehicles that way you know exactly what you are doing.

You have to resuse the LS engine harness and add the wiring for Vtec, unless you want to reuse the GS-R chassis harness too (which if its available to you really isn't a bad idea) I just did this swap a couple of days ago, the GS-R harness is weird, its missing a plug on the driver's side and has an extra plug on the passenger's side IIRC. Both cars were '92 OBD1 Integras, donor car was a GS-R, car the engine was going into a GS. I've never seen anything quite like it, normally theres just wires missing in lower trim level harnesses.
