Default What Pistons Should I Use On My Mini - Me Swap?

Ok, I have a D15B7 bottom end and a D16Y8 head, its going in a 97 Civic Ex. I have been searching around and haven't found a def answer thus far on my own research. I hear that some are using stock pistons and rods, but I plan on boosting shortly after this motor is built. So any suggestions from seasoned swappers would be greatly appreciated, not only on pistons and rods, but on anything else! I am working on a limited budget as well...

Thank you!

I dunno if I'd spend the time/money to build a d15 block

i have been told time and time again that a D15 bottom end with a D16Y8 head and boost is a very good combo...

Time and time again people have been wrong.

You're upping the compression, then turbo?

Besides, not many companies make rods for the d15, there are much more to choose from for a d16

Possibly but i would go stock ls turbo instead of building a d15. Your going to be limited in the power your gonna make and you can find cheap ls's ALL DAY

That is correct. There is more aftermarket support for D16's both VTEC and nonVTEC.

Mini me engines are better for trying to squeeze a little power out of a motor already in a car or something to do if you already had the head off.

Vitara pistons drop compression, older D series pistons up it. The D16A6 pistons were what I was looking at at one time when I was considering building a mini me. Play with the compression calculator from Zeal. Just search for D series compression calculator.

D series motors come kinda low compression. Upping it to high 9:1 to very low 10:1 wouldn't be bad. D series motors lack bottom end and a little compression won't hurt.
