Default Code 45! help!

So i found my CEL code was 45, fuel mixture too rich or lean. heres the story. went to the track and car felt funny, inspected it and found the throttle cable was VERY loose...so we went home and tightened the cable, which is too say as much as we could, from the look of it, it doesnt have any more room to go any tighter...and afterwards my CEL came on and car felt more responsive but every now and then it feels like it has a little hesitation, maybe too rich and flooding a bit?

So my question is, will just adjusting the throttle cable cause the CEL to come on? should i just go ahead and replace the cable? also once when i shifted from second to neutral for a stop sign, RPM's held at close to 3k, gave the pedal a tap and it dropped to normal<around 1k> any help on this mystery is greatly appreciated! thanks guys..

You need slack on that throttle cable, you're like killing it right now. Just back it out a little, I forget exactly how much but maybe half an inch of up/down slack? Not sure if that will cure your CEL problem but it'll make your cable last longer, that's for sure.

under federal Emissions Warranties 8/80 your car should still be covered,
just take it to the Dealer it's provably an 02 sensor or something...

if it was an O2 sensor, the CEL would give the # for o2 sensor. When my throttle use to get stuck, I took a damp rang and ran it over the throttle cable to clean all the **** off it is. Haven't had a problem since. Could be as simple as that...

Actually, the Helms states that one of the reasons a code 45 could be thrown is the O2 sensor. Checking the O2 is one of the troubleshooting steps for a code 45.

I had the code pop up once, and only once. Reset the ECU and it hasn't come up again after quite some while. I'm thinking it was bad gas, since I had left the car parked for quite sometime while I was in Asia.
