I own a 2007 civic ex coupe, 5 speed manual recently i have installed a full cold air intake and it ran pretty good to behonest.

but after a day or 2 of driving, i noticed that after i ran over a few speedbums pretty hard my engine starts to rumble ? maybe its not the engine... but i have no other idea what it can be.. the intake..?? my friends says it could be the clutch oil?


As i go in either 1st 2nd or 3rd gear and rev it to about .. 2 - 3 - 4 thousand RPM, the whole front side of the car rumbles for about.. 2 - 3 seconds then after that when i shift it stops.. it never occurs around 4 - 5 but always 1 - 2 and 3 ...

can any one help? when it was stock , it NEVER had this problem.. but shortly after i installed the cold air intake, it started happening.

 

sounds like a bad motor mount to me

 

is the lower end of the intake still secure? make sure it's not hitting anything.

Is it a hard rumble? Any vibrations? LOL, it could just be your intake growl.

 

rev your engine. does it vibrate? and in the same RPM?

if so it IS your motor mount because it happened to me. check the lower tq mount by your oil drain plug and the mount in your engine bay next to your windshield washer refill funnel

 

Not to bash but theres more R18 threads then si threads lately.

 

What are you trying to say? I feel us (r18 owners) have a right to express ourselves. I know your not trying to bash, but our motors are failing!!

the R18 motors were having some problems which I noticed.

Not saying its any less of a car... I personally think the R18 looks alot better then a fugly carrola or something like that.

 

Hmmm...AGREED!!! I feel that the most noticable part that ends up turning to junk would be the motor mount passenger side..THis has to be the fourth or fifth time I have heard of this. I am some what worried, but at the same time, I am at 26k miles...it has yet for it to happen to me.

 

I would agree with the motor mount response. If you hit speed bumps hard, the shock and strain could have definitely broke a mount. I believe they are only bonded hard rubber.
