wire up an ls motor into ek
i got a b18a ls motor and was wondering how do i wire it up into my ek coupe by using my stock harness. do i have to splice the wire or is it plug and play? if i have to splice the wire, how do i do it? lmk really need help on this one
put in the motor. it all plugs in. minus the altenator and dizzy.
solution #1 get obd2 sizzy and altenator...
solution #2 cut the plugs and wire in obd2 plugs(never worx)
solution #3 get an obd1 to obd2 dizzy adapter from www.rywire.com
and take out the inner plug from the dizzy and switch it with an obd2 one.
then use an obd2 ecu or obd1 to obd2 conversion harness for $40 and get an obd1 ecu

Your also forgetting about the injector plugs, Iacv, IAT and map sensor. The plugs are different on a single cam so you have to cut and solder the B series wire harness plugs into the stock civic harness.. They are generally round plugs..
So the ones that wont plug right into are the alternator, injector, dizzy, IACV, IAT, and map sensor.
Solution #2 wont work. He doesnt have to cut the plugs if hes going to wire it to obd2 plugs.. you mean he will have to change the sensors on the motor to obd2 such as obd2 dizzy, obd2 injectors, obd2 alternator.
Unless his motor was obd2 and his car was obd1 then he can cut the plugs and wire it to obd2 because the obd2 motor already has the obd2 sensors on it.. and YES it does work and usually does if done correctly.
It would be the other way around if he plans on converting to obd1. Which means he will have to cut the plugs and find obd1 plugs to solder if he plans on keeping the alternator obd1, injectors obd1, and dizzy obd1.
Solution #3 can also be modified yourself if you choose that route.. its not that hard its actually alot easier than most people think and far cheaper than buying a dizzy converter.

Two of the colors on this diagram are wrong.. I have the correct information because I did this conversion and was in the shitz until I figured it out. I corrected it and sent the info to phearable.net but they told me its not from their source. Just pm me and ill let you know or if I can find the info ill correct it here. Thats if you choose these route.
To the OP - just wondering what model 96-00 civic coupe do you have? an ex? or not?

wrong.. not on a single cam its not.... they are square shaped plugs and are using 3 wires whereas the B series are round plugs and are using 2 wires

although Im second guessing about the map sensor though, it may also be square shaped. Im second guessing because the tps and map sensors are usually interchangeable because they both are round on B series.. I will have to look it up though

Understandable.. Wiring is one of the most frustrating parts of the motor swap for many people.. however I like wiring and figuring things out and wouldnt mind spending a day just working on it :]
my civic is a dx and im planning to convert it into an ex but then again is it better if i just go and grab myself an ex harness so it could just be plug and play or would still be the same thing. thanks for the help guysz
If you dont want to cut your wire harness or deal with it, then go obd2 with a obd1 ecu. Heres what you do.
Get a 96-98 civic ex engine harness. I dont know what year your civic is so if you have a 96-98 civic then get a 96-98 ex harness.. if you have a 99-00 civic, then get a 99-00 ex harness.
Change your distributor, fuel injectors, and alternator to obd2
You can get this from any 96+ Integra LS motor b18b and then sell all your old obd1 parts
Then you can use a obd1 ecu with a conversion harness and it will be a piece of cake.
But, If you want to go the cheap route then let me know and Ill go step by step on how to convert everything to obd1
single cam and dual cam sensors are the same depending on the year. thats a fact, dont argue with it.
I have a 2000 integra ls harness plugged into my eg, before that I had a stock dx eg harness rewired for obd2 injectors and alt with a homemade distributor harness for the obd2 distributor.
Granted the dist, alt and injectors are different those have to be replaced or rewired. You can use your stock injecotrs in place of the obd1 units, swap distributor guts, rewiring the alt is EASY. If it's an ex or hx, it will be plug and play less the 5 wire o2. If it's a dx/cx/lx the iacv will need to be rewired.

you will still have to either convert everything to obd1 or change all your sensors on your motor to obd2.

after all that explaining and you still manage to get it wrong... sometimes I wonder why I even bother to help..
