REAL mugen bumper for 4th gen
I also have the full kit which is all made out of what I believe is polyurethane - albeit a very thin, hardened version of it which is quite brittle - why it could be mistaken for ABS plastic.
Very light stuff too they way it is made.

Stock bumpers are polypropylene as far as I know. Isn't there a PP stamp on the inside of our bumpers?
But it's pretty much the same as polyurethane anyway...

Is the spoiler actually the same material? I was surprised at how light it was when I first picked it up. I really can't tell what mine is made of.
Part of mine was stripped back to the plastic where the correct plastic primer clearly wasn't used originally. Smooth plastic of some sort - it is white as opposed to the black plastic of the bumper and skirts though.
You can also see roughly the make up of the skin from the holes where the mounting bars go. Mine were out to refurb and you can see it as pretty consistent plastic through.
The only maybe I'd throw in on the fibreglass comment is it may have some fibre reinforcement in it - I guess I wouldn't know without breaking it (blasphemy!). But it is still a plastic of some sort be it polyurethane, polypropylene or whatever - it's all similar stuff and definitely not your usual fibreglass crap. Plus all the bits are light. It's not thick chunky stuff. Like I said quality production, but what else would you expect from Mugen.
Out of interest as this thread may attract fellow Mugen bumper owners...who might be interested in buying a set of copy headlight covers? They will be exact replicas of the originals. I'm looking around for some companies to see if they can reproduce mine but need to see if there is enough interest first. Like a batch of 5 or 10???

Well fair enough if you've seen a damaged one (quietly sobs!), but you sure it wasn't a fibre reinforced plastic of some sort, which would make the fibreglass comment more correct in seeing fibres but not necessarily be the same make up as traditional bodykit manufacturers use??? I mean I couldn't say 100% without breaking mine - which aint gonna ever happen but can only go on what I've seen. you can still see the plastic in the bar mount threads - it isn't a gel coat either. Just interesting that it was white as opposed to the black of the bumper and skirts I thought???
As for headlight covers, anymore for anymore? Found about 4 reputable companies today and will be emailing them to see if it's something they could do and rough prices. May require a few visits with the parts though. I wonder with some carefully placed slots in the original bumper whether these could be made to fit standard bumpers??? Mugen/OEM hybrids! ;o)
well the mounts on the wing may be part plastic. i couldnt tell from the damage on the spoiler. i could just see that the whole "wing" part is fiberglass, no plastic. like everything except the mounts/bar mounts. i dont know for sure what material the mounts are.

Get those things made. How many people do you need to get some made?
Um no-one said anything about a rear bumper. They never made a rear bumper for the 4th gen prelude. I have it on good sources that they commissioned a company called Canam to make some rear corner spats I have pics of those.
