anyone know much about EG CLUSTERS!?
i have an eg ex/si cluster, speedo and odo don't work. i think the needle died.
i tried 3 diff vss sensors that i KNOW work and none of them fixed it, i checked voltages at vss as well so i think needle is just dead.
how difficult is this to replace and where can i get a new needle or motor or whatever it is i will need?

You changed the sensors, but did you take the shaft and gear out and inspect them?
As for swapping speedos from clusters, it should work, as long as they're the same speedo.

so same speedo as in they both need to come from an ex/si cluster or could i take a speedo out of a dx cluster that had no tach and use that speedo?
not sure if they would be programmed the same
As long as the speedo stops at the same speed (as in they both top out at 220KM/H) you should be ok I think.
With it being electronic, I doubt the tach has anything to do with it. I'm basing this totally on common sense, as I haven't done it before.

Yes you can switch just the speedo from any 92-95 Civic. Remember seeing a write of swapping out the speedo for correct mileage. That will help you. Just go search for it.
i have the same problem..i swapped out my vss to a new one and it still doesnt read..ima try a new cluster..but if you get any 92-95 cluster they should plug and play...
check the connector a lot of times ull find corrosion in the terminals. check it and if its bad just wire a new vss harness in. i know 3 other people that had that problem and it was the harness.
Thank RonJ@HT for it. He posted it in another topic. Someone also posted a picture of the whole VSS assembly (including the gear) out of the transmission, but I do not think my tranmission has a spot where it can pull out, I believe the actual sensor just bolts to the case of the transmission and the gear is inside the case. That is why I was asking, how are people checking this gear/pulling out the shaft? I would really like to get this working.
Know of anywhere I can buy the harness brand new? I know I can go to a junkyard and splice one off, but would rather just get a new one if possible.
I suggest swapping the cluster first, its a very common problem... if the speedo is the only thing that dont work then you can swap it out from a Dx model also,, I did it a million times.
