Default Tranny building...

I'm looking at having my stock Si tranny rebuilt (As soon as I finish paying off the lawyer for CVC23109 ) and was hoping some of you could help me out. I want it to be strong and able to last (even with the occasional stick driving lessons for my girlfriend). Any advice? Anyone know a good tranny building shop in South Cali?

Manuel trannsmission? If so I recommend this shop ( they are currently without a name but they do excellent work, specialize in only hondas/acuras): Formally called N.Y.C.E. motorsports. (310) 787-1562 ask for Kevin. located on torrance blvd. and normandie ave. in Torrance.

is there something wrong with it now?
are you looking for stuff like titanium gears and synchros?
i would say the only parts that are avaliable would be oem stuff

The tranny's the original one from my hatch. It's just been sitting in my garage since I dropped in a tranny with lower miles. I've wanted to rebuild it from the start, but couldn't afford the down time (the hatch is my DD) so I just dropped in a healthier tranny. The car's previous owner was a dumb sh*t that pretty much f*cked the car... that's why I keep posting about replacing parts. Anywayz, once I get the money I'm gonna drop in a strong built D block, and I want a rebuilt tranny to bolt up to it.

since it's a spare, i'd say rebuild it yourself. you can pick up a kit from transtar industries http://www.transtarindustries.com for about $420 that comes with all new bearings and synchro rings. it's pretty fun doing it yourself, plus you'll learn a lot.

yea, its not as hard as i thought it would be. i just recently (last week) rebuilt my 93 gsr tran and it was fun. i would strongly suggest a Helms manual or take a lot of good pics.
Mista Bone is a good person to ask about tranny rebuilds (mostly d series)...he was able to help me

Thanks for all the replys. You've convinced me to go ahead and just do it myself... after all I'm in no real rush. I'm just warning you all now... be prepared for plenty of "Now what do I do?" questions along the way.

I'm trying to avoid the other penalties... that's why I'm shelling out a buttload of money. Damn DA keeps delaying the case, though. I hate waiting for stuff like this.

hey if you paln to go all motor try to find some zc tranny gears and an LSD...they should fit into ur si tranny... right guys?? there is also places where u can get custom gearing and lsd's

as far as strength u cant really do much to beef up the tranny..just make it smoother. just dont get a 4 puck unsprung hub that will snap the tranny iin peices and it will be fine.

look inot cusotm gearing and lsd. then new bearing and synchros
