Cant clock turbo
I have a gt3257. I am trying to rotate the middle housing so that I can move the drain plug to a new angle. I have clocked the cold side to where it needs to go, but I cannot get the middle section to budge. I have taken all 4 screws out that hold the middle into the exhaust housing but it hasnt moved a millimeter. It almost looks like there might be different holes i can screw these bolts back into once i rotate the housing, as opposed to being able to clock it in any direction you wish. Do i need to remove the turbine itself to get this middle section to rotate or what? tia
heres a pic to help

I ran into trouble when trying to clock mine, so what I did was loosen all the screws on the exhaust side (couldn't take all of them out becuase they were hitting the actual turbo itself) and gently tapped it with a mallet. Don't swing at it (obviously) but if you tap around it in an even circular motion (like when you put cups in your headset or bottom bracket old school bmx style) it will loosen it up enough for you to hand turn it where ever you like
i haven't seen a center section like that. maybe you can't clock the turbine side. normally the center section is held on bu removable tabs. not bolts through the center section.
This is what i am begining to think too. Has anyone ever heard of one that cant be clocked? ill take better pics of it

is it me or does it look like there are alternate places to mount the main housing to the exhaust housing. it looks like those are even spaced threaded holes where u could pull out the housing and clock it at a few different angles. has anyone ever seen anything like this? Im feeling like I would have to disassemble the shaft to adjust it, any thoughts?

i used a torch and beat the **** out of exhaust housing on my holset with a big ball peen hammer. then it moved.
sometimes you need to get rough but i wouldnt go to crazy with a nice minty turbo like yours, mine was fresh from the junkyard haha.

TADAAAA...........

well i was right and wrong after i kept hitting it with a hammer. I was right that there were a few different positions that I could clock the main housing, however I did not have to take the shaft apart. Im golden except for the fact that I still cant get my drain line to go to the oil pan smoothly, what do yall think?

can you cut that line a little shorter and adjust the angle on the AN fittings?
I wouldnt leave that kink in there.
Or if you have to just use straight ANs with a longer length of hose and a slightly longer arch.

I wish it was as easy as "just remove that kink"
I cant clock the turbo in infinite angles so this is the best I have been able to come up with trust me. the pictures are kinda deceiving, but those are the closest I can get the ends to being in a straight line.fml
