Default Clocking turbo quiestion???

My oil feed is right in the way of my inlet. So i need to clock it one more bolt or however you say it. Now all i have to do is take out all the bolts on exhaust housing, and i should be able to spin the intake and center section forward correct? heres a pic of my turbo. standard T3. I'm just really cautious cause i don't want the damn thing falling apart with just **** falling all over the place and i have no idea where it goes. thnx for any help.

also for those that are wondering. if i do clock it forward one more bolt it should make the feed and drain straight up and down, or pretty damn close.

When you loosen up all the bolts, It should all be able to rotate!

There is no reason to remove all the bolts, just loosen them!

No point in removing them, its just a pain in the *** when you could easily loosen them up and rotate the center section and compressor housing where ever you need to. Less chance of damaging the wheels.

The reason you don't want to remove them is because of the turbine wheel. There should be less than 1/32" clearance around the wheel, and since the blades are relatively fragile, they WILL break if you are not careful when removing the center section (chra) from the turbine housing.

It has been my experience that the turbo will not unbolt and twist as easy as the distributor. The turbine housing has a VERY tight fit, so a good amount of hammering will be needed. Thats why you should only loosen the bolts a bit, so you don't knock one side out too far, pinch a blade against the turbine housing, and snap a blade.

ah right
so its ok if the bolts were just removed one at a time then refited?
why i ask is cause a friend tried clocking his t28 and he was having problems so i ask him wat hed done and he talked me htrough it over msn and he mentioned he had removed them and i knew id read not to do that
but all should be fine cause he could not get the compressor to move and was to affraid to hit it with a hammer
thanx for the info

unless the CHRA and turbine housing are very rusty and stuck together, then its hammer time

Ya'll are forgetting the O-ring seal on the compressor housing.

Careful on both parts, O-ring and the wheel.
