Default High hp on a d series

Im just curious, about this, I've been reading and saw alot of different 'opinions' on the matter. I am looking into putting high performance internals in my d16a6 block. When/if i tap the potential of these internals, what can i expect, an engine with too much stress or lots of power? If this has been answered and i missed it sorry about the post.

The D16A6 is around 108 hp. You would need to do extensive head work, maybe some sort of forced induction, and with other mods your looking a a lot of money. My sugggestion is by a B series engine. Right off the bat you have at least 160 +hp. Its possible to build a high power D series, but you have to ask yourself is it cost effecient.

right right, i've got a d16y8 head, and im planning on getting a crower turbo cam and upgrade the valvetrain. I've done alot of research and still have alot more todo, so i was just curious as to see if the engine block itself would be compromised. thanks again.

The block shouldn't be all that compromised, within reason. The A6 block is fairly strong (for a D series), unlike the Y8 block, which I've heard has a tendency to grenade under higher stress levels. Still, if you plan to do the stuff you mentioned, it wouldn't hurt to upgrade the connecting rods, a weak point on all D-series engines. I hear you can use B18A rods which are good for around 200 hp, with only minimal machine work. Let us know what you do!

And hey, if you blow up your A6 block, I have 2 lying around in my garage

this cam for turbo aplications? it'll suck NA if it is. high lift low duration = turbo cams. NA cams = low lift high duration

skunk 2 has a turbo cam available for the d series, on the site the thing looks to still be under development; however, i think it is available now. (a local shop said they could place an order).
