Vtec hits but no more speed????
i just got a JDM B18C and the egine runs fine except it does not pull when i hit vtec, i hear it but is does not do a damn thing??
it hits v-tec at like 4400rpm and 5600 rpm but you can't feel it at all and a 4 door gsr is keeps up and i am in a 2100lb hatch??
if anyone has any ideas on what the problem is please post, thanks

If he unplugs the solenoid the ECU will go into "Loop Mode" and it will not run right anyhow. This will not work. Flash the ECU codes and make sure you have none. You might not be getting the secondary butterflies "IAB" kicking in. If this is the case you should have a CEL. Any problems relating to wiring etc when it comes to VTEC etc will show up as a CEL hence flash the ecu codes.

what is loop mode?
it wont go into "limp mode" cause of a VTEC solenoid!
not every CEL makes teh ECU go into limp mode!!!

LMAO
and correct, no limp mode
only major things will send the ecu into limp mode.
ok i will check the ECU, but shoud i try unpluging the vtec soleniod?? also would the ecu flash a code if the solenoid is broke (shipping) and if the sensors are broke i thought the engine just runs in safe mode?
thanks for the responses

sorry - i had assumed you had checked for codes!!!
silly me!
assuming makes and *** out of U and ME!!!
check for codes! ad report back...
if there are no codes - then pull your solenoid plug - you will get a CEL or MIL (on dash) but it will not go into limp mode.
when you have the solenoid disconnected VTEC wont engage, this way you can tell the BEFORE and AFTER feelings of VTEC/nonVTEC...

also kamin posted a nice write up on VTEC trouble shooting steps. you may want to take a look at it. funny how good that search button works.......https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=164863
