Default D15B7 mini-me swap running rich

I've completed a mini-me swap and I'm running into some issues. First, its a D15B7 block with a Z6 head and P28 ECU. Lately it has been running rich and burning a decent amount of oil. When I was in the process of changing the head, I did not notice that much buildup on the pistons so I'm not sure if it is the rings... Also, when I accelerate past 3,500-4,000RPMs, the smoke just pours out of the exhaust. I'm not sure where to start. I'm using the injectors and fuel rail from the B7 head so I was thinking about changing out those first. Any ideas? And yes I know I should just go B series lol but I can't afford it ATM.

Is your mechanical timing off by one tooth on the timing belt?

If the mechanical timing is fine, have you checked the ignition with a timing gun? Any CEL codes?

Checked the timing, looks good. I am not throwing a CEL. Did not check ignition as I do not have a gun...

Your local auto parts store may offer a free rental on a timing gun.
