im using spray cans, im not usung a gun. if i dont like the outcome then its getting stripped all back off. and then ill use a gun
Time = Money man...just pick up a gun and do it right the first time. Having to start over would suuuuck after all that work! Even if it's an inexpensive gun, you're better off than with spray cans. It will atomize the paint in a much finer way, and it's going to be pretty much impossible to keep a wet edge going with the tiny width of a rattle can nozzle.
I'm assuming you're using automotive paint right? (not Rustoleum) Single Stage, or BC/CC? For BC/CC you don't sand the base...if you have to, then you have to base over it again before clear. However, you can knock off any small texture (like a little piece of dust) with 1000 grit before clearing. Then the clear gets sprayed right over the final coat of base. For SS, you won't need to sand between coats either...
In either case, as long as the body is straight enough, you can take care of any orange peel with colorsanding after you're done spraying.

well here are some pictures, i just bit the bullet and started sanding(it wasnt as hot as i thought it was out) and to my suprise, it came out pretty smooth after. i wasnt sure what type of grit to use, so i assumed the 220 VERY FINE was ok but it wasnt. i used 1k grit paper, soap, and watter mixed togeather with a spray bottle. then hosed off.
ps-sorry for the shitty camera phone pix
