every time i accelerate hard the e-brake light comes on
when i let off it goes out
i have even unplugged the e-brake switch wire and it still does it

is this anything to worry about
any idea
i drive a 98 civic dx
stock motor stock computer
full cold air
full exhaust

probally break master cylinders a little low of fluid check it out and top it off as needed

 

That is most likely the cause. Check out the reservoir, I bet it needs to be toped off.

That light not only indicates that the E brake is engaged, but also low fluid in the reservoir. When the fluid level drops, the float in the reservoir causes the E brake light to turn on.

Na you just hit vtak, it's a built in shift light

 

Low fluid in the MC reservoir would generally indicate worn brake pads or a leak. Check for both.

 

So when my e-brake light is on even after I release the break, its more than likely due to low fluid in the reservoir? Mine often times will stay on for a while, and then go off, but maybe not for like a half hour, and maybe only for like 5 minutes.

 

Check the fluid level in the reservoir.

 

Ok sounds good, will do. I was thinking the switch was going bad, but this makes more sense.

that's what it was thanks guy never would have thought of that

 

in my old ef hatch when i stomped it the ebrake light & hatch light would come on. it always gave us a good laugh.
