Default used tranny bad signs?

Hey guys looking to pick up a used b16 tranny tomorrow, only downside is that it is out of the car already.

Is there any signs that I can look for too tell whether or not its good or bad?

Any info and details helps! Let me know if you know anything..

The mainshaft shouldn't have any side-to-side play, and should spin fairly smoothly. If you give it one quick spin by hand and let go while it's in neutral, it'll typically spin a half a turn to a full turn.

Get a Philip's head screwdriver (or anything to place in the shift rod) and shift it through all gears. It always feels hard to do this way, since you're losing a lot of power that the whole linkage and shifter provide. All gears should go in pretty easily though, but reverse may be tough, as usual.

Visual inspection of axles seals and shift rod seal can be done. As well as a finger test to the differential spider gears. They are pretty loose, so don't freak out. Just make sure it isn't falling apart. lol

No way to tell if the trans will grind though. You're SOL on that one. Good luck on the purchase though.
