tranny problem, no gears, no noise , no movement
94 delsol vtec, not sure on the circumstances of how it happened (let a friend borrow it) but heres the situation. Shifter feels like there is very little resistance, you can put it in 1st and make a complete circle like over to 5th then down to reverse etc... It isn't anything external becasue you can see the shifter pin move in and out of the tranny. clutch pedal is fine, feels the same, everything checked out on it.
i guess my real question would be what connects to the shifter rod inside of the transmission, and how easy is it to break it, becasue i think thats what is broke

Re: tranny problem, no gears, no noise , no movement (b16hybridsol)
If everything external of the tranny moves fine, then you're right, it's surely something inside the tranny.
It's hard to explain, but there is a piece inside the tranny that moves between the 3 shift forks and moves up and down to shift different gears (ie: one fork is for 1-2, one for 3-4, and one for 5-reverse). The section of the shift fork has a c-section, and the piece previously mentioned on the "shift rod" pushes on either the top or bottom of the c-section causing the gears to change.
I know it sounds confusing, it's hard for me to explain, but it sounds like something is broken dealing with the shift forks or the tab that moves the shift forks. Hope it helped...a little

Re: tranny problem, no gears, no noise , no movement (******)
i know what you are talking about, i've had a few trannys apart, but not a honda yet. Whats the likelyhood of that breaking though, i've been searching through the "tranny problems" for over an hour (wouldn't wish that search on my worst enemy) and i only found one thread like it, and no replys. Just looking at the shifter rod(tranny side), it doesn;t seem possible that it could break its like a half inch think, and i'm pretty sure its solid too. I guess its time to tear it out and find out.
Anybody have misc tranny parts like these out of a blow up tranny?

single cam? if it's b series i got your parts. i might have the single cam tranny part. i bet the changer mechanism tab cracked off that moves off the shifter extension (rod).

The changer mechanism tab is what I was referring to, not necessarily the shifter rod that goes into the tranny you can see from the outside.

That's the reverse shift holder right? Top of the pic is cut off a bit so it's kind of hard to see the whole thing. At least it's an easy fix.

this is the main shifter sits in the bottom of the case right on top of the internal shifter rod. isn't the reverse shifter up higher in the case in that pic? and it only shows it being held by 2 bolts and this is held in by 3
sorry for the cut off pic. what you can;t see is a coil spring on the back that keeps tension on that upper most fork arm

id be more worried about the chunks of that floating around the transmission, inspect all the gears and make sure they are OK.

awwwww, such a nice friend.......
Nothing sucks more then breaking your friends car. It should be an easy fix and I'm sure you can find the part at one of the honda/acura dealerships around your way. You already have the trans out so its just a matter of putting it back in.

Isn't that it? If that's not the part you need, use the links to find what you need. Every piece of your tranny will be on that site.
