Need Help w/ 1998 Honda Civic LX speedometer
Hey everyone,
It seems like my speedometer has stopped working on me. I was driving to work on the highway when my speedometer just dropped from 60 mph to 0 mph. It's also been jumping up and down when I'm driving. It seems like the fuse is still good. What could be causing the speedometer to not work?? Any suggestions?:
**The CEL is on

Check whether fuse 15 is or is not blown. Either swap in a known good fuse or test with a multimeter.

These are the codes that came up when I took the car to autozone
CODES:
P0141
P1298
P0135
PO500
But how would I know which part to start with? I don't want to waste a lot of money buying a part and find out it's not the part I need to fix my speedometer.

CODES:
P0141 - secondary O2 sensor heater
P1298 - ELD
P0135 - primary O2 sensor heater
PO500 - VSS
Those codes STRONGLY suggest that 7.5A fuse #15 under the dash is blown. Are you sure you have tested this fuse?
Read this TSB.

well, i checked today and replaced the 7.5 fuse. the speedometer started working again, but the CEL is still on. what else could be wrong?
By the way, I'm unable to open the TSB tab.

since you replaced the fuse did you reset the cel? the easiest way to reset it is to unhook the battery for 10-15 min that will clear the light.
Fuse 15 blows due to a short in the wire harness located behind the intake manifold. Therefore, regularly check whether the fuse has again blown. Reset the ECU as mentioned. Ultimately, the short must be repaired to fix the problem. Read the TSB for details.
