Default holset hx35 users i have a question

I just upgraded my turbo on my 05 cummins and have my stock hx35 sitting, i wanna use it on my turbo motor i just built but was wondering what i should do about the exhaust housing. It is electronically waste gated and internal. Can i purchase a new housing with out the wastegate? If so can some one point me in the direction to purchase a housing? thanks

i think thats an he351 or an hy35.

either way very close to an hx35.

what you want to do is take off the solenoid on the compressor side and plug it, or you can just unhook the wastegate actuator from it and leave the solenoid there if you dont mind having extra junk laying around in your engine bay.

next you can keep that housing, just make a bracket to hold the flapper shut or you can be like me and weld the flapper shut.

good luck and thats a great turbo.

im pretty sure its an he 351 and its a great performing turbo depending on what engine your talking about putting it on.........you need to pull the electronics, take the turbo apart and make sure the wheels are fixed for top end and not fast spool (im not sure which way these go to do this but i think this turbo will do it itself), but it needs to be done if it doesn't do it its self. weld the wastegate flapper shut

im pretty sure that turbo is good to about 400-475 whp MAXED out
\
hope that helped

That turbo is an HE351CW Like the others said. You can Use the internal gate or you can weld it shut. I have done it both ways. On my girl friends car (he351cw) I found an old acuator off of a dsm or something and made use of it so i dident have to buy a wastegate. It made 11psi by 5000 rpm on a stock ls (250whp). (the turbo dosent really wake up untill 15psi.)

On a HE341 I put on a D series. I welded the wastegate shut from the outside There is a machined peice of steel where the shaft goes threw. This is the best place for a weld to stick.

goodluck it will be a beast!
