you have to ground one of the wires coming from the ecu, then the CEL will flash the code. someone will chime in with the correct wire...

Edit: D17 on the OBD1 ecu

if you bought an ECU conversion harness, instructions "should be on there". What you do is buy a toggle switch, mount it, and run wires to ECU conversion harness. I'll find out what wire exactly tomorrow. I'll tell you.

most of the time when you buy a obd0 to obd1 jumper harness it will have a wiring diagram with it. most of the time its the yellow wire you have to ground out and the check engine light will flash...

good luck.

I just converted to OBD1 using a p30 myself. You'll wire a switch in to your wiring diagram that will control the ecu error codes. With the switch turned off your cel will work like it always does and when the switch is on the cel will flash if there's a code or stay on if all systems go. Hope this helps

You ground out d4 which is the SCS Service Check Signal.

For the dist wiring there are two options. One being change the obd1 plug on your dist to match the obd0 plug on your car. Two being the better option of going to a junkyard and getting an obd1 dist plug/clip to match the one on your dist. I did the latter because if you want to switch out your dist it's way easier to unplug and plug in then to rewire a dist every time. If you're looking for the dist wiring guide I would search for wiring diagram from an obd0 to obd1 conversion harness. Any brand will work they are pretty much the same when it comes to instructions.
