Help! D15Z1 Vtec-E motor in 99 Civic
i got a d15z1 motor in my 99 civic lx, its running on the y7 computer and the y7 complete intake manifold with the y7 injectors, what do i need to make it run good, right now it wont go over 5k rpm.. i know i need a ob2b jumper and run the d15z1 p07 computer, but do i need the vx(d15z1) injectors? do i need a special o2 sensor??? or can i just throw the y7 cam in it and be done with it???
You will need to use everything from the Z1, including the wideband O2 sensor and ECU if you want it to run right. You will need an OBD2 to OBD1 jumper harness to use the ECU as well. Some wiring will need to be done (wiring Vtec, EGR, 5 wire O2 sensor, IACV fix. You will also want to run the VX tranny for optimal mileage.

what do you mean by idle air control valve fix??? also how do i wire the egr in??
non-VTEC cam going into a VTEC head. I don't think it's going to work. If you're after more power, drop a Z6 in. Don't mess with swapping heads and junk, the VX engine was made light and it's weak because it wasn't meant to put out a lot of power. Minime swaps aren't really logical because the D15Z1 bottom end will net a low comp ratio with a regular VTEC head.

Already sort of answered this in your PM. But to further clarify: The VX ECU looks for a 2 wire IACV. Even if you keep the original Y7 IM and throttlebody with the 3 wire IACV on it the ECU wont be able to do anything with it and you will have an idle that fluctuates from about 800rpm to 1500rpm.
