Yep, that's it, and then the ground is just the case itself, which goes through the alternator bracket through the engine and to the engine-to-chassis wire, which you upgraded.

is it better to run the positive wire with an inline fuse direct to the car battery or should i use the use box? what size amp do i need to use here if inline. if thru the fuse box, which wire?

*wakes up* To the battery would be a more direct route, current wouldn't be limited by the capacity of the fuse box. As for amperage, stock alternator puts out about 65 amps max in your particular setup, so 60-70 or less. Others may say different some reason or another.

when i upgraded the big 3 on my civic, i actually ran 1/0 gauge from the alt straight to the battery and used an anl fuse holder with 150a fuse. the oem line and fuse is rated at 80, you can upgrade to a 100a fuse, but keep in mind that wire is small and generally when you up your alternator you are usually at least doubling your power from alternator, the stock wire is no longer sufficient.

once i add an O-ring terminal to the positive on the alternator, what are you guys using to cover the terminal since the grommet won't fit over it anymore..i guess unless cut.

I bought some boots from eBay that slide over. This one in particular:

I'd snap a pic, but the '96 is in Seagoville.
