just wondering if a wideband will work with a stock computer. my buddy just got a aem wideband and its stuck on 14.8 and doesnt move. he bought the gauge used and the harness was cut off so the guy wired up a new one. if it is sitting at 14.8 and doesnt move does that mean its not getting signal? because when i turn the key to II it does the exact same thing without the car running

 

I would imagine there is a short in the board or something wrong with the wires. If theres no warrenty or anything, crack the bitch open and see if it looks fried, or wires not attached etc.

The signal comes from the O2 sensor, not the ECU. Most problems are a result of incorrect or poor wiring.

Yes, the AEM can output a 0-1v signal to the stock ECU while displaying a wideband ratio on the gauge. There is a **** on the back of the gauge to adjust the output signal. However, many people have experienced problems with this. I have a wideband that works perfectly with the AEM EMS, but when switched to 0-1v it caused my stock ECU to run very lean.

Ground the wideband to the sensor reference ground at the ECU D21 or D22 on an OBD1 ECU. Do not use chassis ground.

 

ok we got it fixed. one other question. there is only one bung for an o2 sensor. is there a way to wire the o2 sensor into the ecu so it reads as a stock o2 and have the wideband gauge hooked up?

 

no, Wideband O2 sensors are completely different than a Zirconia style sensor they aren't interchangable like that unless your ECU is supposed to use a Wideband sensor like some of the newer cars today. Or like the other guy said if your using a standalone system it may be setup to read a wideband but a OE Honda ECU won't read it and use it to adjust Air/fuel like it will a stock Zirconia sensor

 

ok so should i go to an exause shop and get another bung welded on? and if so where at? the one on it now is right at the end of the header. directly under the intake mani. there is no cat on the exause either

 

Yeah have them put another bung right next to the first OEM o2 sensor.

and as a side note if you ever plan to run anything but unleaded fuel in your car, take that wideband out as soon as your done tuning cause it will kill that sensor within a tank of gas or two. LOL trust me C16 and Sensors don't like eachother I know from experience! I've got a box of dead o2's from that kind of stuff! LOL
