Default Car wont idle, S300 throws IAC error code

I put in some skunk2 pro1 camshafts in my b18c5 and the car wont idle and its throwing an IAC error code. i have 1mm oversized valves and ferrea valvetrain in it. is there a reason why its not idling and how do i get it to idle? do i have to add or take away fuel in the map or do i adjust my camgears? thanks.

Did you tune the car after putting the Pro 1's in it? From what I gather (and I have a set in my car) they are not known to idle that great. It took my tuner about 25 pulls on my car to get things just right.

Also, what do you have the cam gears set to?

Whenever you make changes on parts internally your motor don't behave the same. Have it retune and don't drive it too hard or you'll spend more money. A lot of things can happen and only one thing to make your day a bad one.

No, car is not tuned yet. I still gotta change the intake manifold and tb before I get it tuned. Im currently parking it. the camgears are set to zero. my buddy and i degreed the cams and its suppose to be set at 1 degrees retard on intake and exhaust. im not sure if that is right. i broke in the motor with b16 cams and i just put the pro1s back in.

i bought these cams from my buddy when he stepped up to the pro2's and i guess he said on the dyno he had the cams set at 2degrees advanced on both intake and exhaust.

Could be something as simple as an IACV gasket, or just needs some cleaning.
1. Trouble shoot the code, and clear it.
2. Ensure the cams are degreed in correctly
3. Tune it.

= happy R

You stated broke in the motor. Is this a fresh rebuilt bottom end or you only change the valve and cams. Its not adding up and I think your iacv is one of the problem that is showing due to throwing code. Adj timing is not a great idea. Hope you didn't do much or any damage. A bent valve is closer than you think playing with timing. Spend the money and have a pro work on it.

those cams (before the current version) need to be degreed 4 degrees apart. new ones are drop in.

check the wires on the iacv.. easy to partially pull one loose.

If you were pushing a IAC error prior to installing the Pro's, why didnt you fix it before you installed the new cams?
Regardless, take off the IACV. check the gasket to the IM. take some throttle body cleaner and spray it on a qtip and use the qtip to clean the screen on the IACV. if you have a vacuum leak because of a gasket issue, it will idle wompy and cut a code, so replace it to take that out of the equation. if the IACV is bad you need to test that, so borrow your buddies for 15 minurtes and see if it works. you also may want to decrease the sampling rate of the IACV. go to the Idle tab in smanager, slide the IAC duty cycle slider to the left to reduce the sampling rate, that will sometimes fix the idle issue. you can also kill the error entirely by checking the check box at the bottom of that tab which says Disable IAC error.
When installing the cams, make sure they are TDC. your tuner (or you if you know how) can adjust timing with the S300 via the ignition tables. Slapping a piston on a valve because you are off by a degree in the Camgear setting is pretty stupid when you are running fully adjustable engine management.
good luck.

dont' mean to butt in but there is a button to disable the idle air control valve if you have the s300. i would recommend using it until you figure out what is going on with your sensor.

No there isnt. There is a radio box to Disable the ERROR, not the Sensor itself, which I already detailed above.
The Three sensors you can disable are Knock, ELD, and Barametric pressure. you can also disable Alternator control and the injector code, all located on the Misc Tab. But that has nothing to do with his issue.
