Default QUESTION OF THE CENTURY

Ive been busting my head lately, i have an eg hatch with an LS motor in it. the LS is in really good shape with 85k on it. This is my daily driver and i drive it 30-50 miles everyday. my goal is to hit 200-250hp at the wheel. is it wiser to build the LS motor, or simply swap out to a gsr vtec motor.? i have a gsr trans. im currently at like 150hp.

any help would be appreciated.

i think the revs are still limited to 6800 on a ls vtec, gsr=8000rpm. that means that ill have vtec between 4000 and 6800 rpm. too little lol. i might be wrong, but thats what ive read. also are the ls vtecs reliable, ill be driving like 40 miles a day.

thats why you build the ls bottom block before you put on a vtec head. the stock gsr is $3000 with transmission and everything. The long block alone may be $2200. Then you will have to spend some more money on the gsr block in order to achieve 200-250whp. I suggest you use that extra money your willing to spend and invest it on a properly built ls block or your own block. But if money is not an issue, then spend it on a gsr long block and do what we call a poor man type R. ITR or CTR pistons on the gsr block with a b16 head. And it could be more reliable and safe for higher revving.

swap for vtec head and keep the ls bottom! just do LS/VTEC. dont spend money for a GSR. its not gonna be any easier even if you have a b18c1 unless you go turbo. its not like the LS motor is bad or anything. and btw gsr rev limit is 8200
