Default temp guage going bananas!

1st i wanna welcome my self back.. I sold my ek b16 swap for a is300 never again
So now I'm back ek baby!! It felt like I sold my soul to the devil
I'm back with more questions

This is my problem yesterday as I was driving around my ac was blowing hot air, I went to a junk yard when I return my car
The car didn't want to start and engine light came on.. So finally it urned on and I started driving to autozone the car turned off on me .. I lift the Hood and my coolent was empty
I let the car cool down and turned it on and went to autozon checked the cel and it gave me p0117
I put in coolent and started the car and it worked fine I cleared the cel and it did not appear again

My temp gauge does not work so I didn't know it was over heating
I bought a si cluster today to connect and see the temp .. But now when I drive the temp needle goes crazy.. When I give gas it goes down
When I turn the car to ignition it shows the temp
What's going here???
And who I bought the ek from he bypass the wire do the fan can be on all the time

Any one any input?

the fan being on all the time has nothing to do with the temp guage sensor. i had a similar problem when i mashed the gas the temp guage died then let off and it worked. turned out the plug wasnt pluged in all the way. i would say check the plug and wire.

my tach is like that (si cluster) the plug/wire on the dizzy is loose.... (not sure if thats the same area)

try make sure the connections/plugs on the back of the cluster is in securely.

I think you need to top off the radiator and reservoir with coolant, push the heater lever to max heat, install the radiator cap loosely, and let the engine idle until the cooling fan turns on twice (may take 20 minutes or so). This should bleed the air out of the cooling system and stabilize the dash temp gauge.

the pervious owner bypass the fan so it can be on at all times...
now i dont know if he did this for a reason ... but how would i know if i clip back the fan switch the fan works?

Just let the engine idle for about 20 minutes. Putting the front end on stands may help get all the air out of the cooling system.

No need to do a flush (drain, flush, refill, bleed). Just bleed the system.

Diagrams posted at this thread show how to test the gas gauge and sending unit.

It works fine with my EX cluster now im putting the SI cluster and the needle wont move ... Do u think if i take out the gauge from the EX and put it on the SI would work? cuase to tell u the truth i think its the gauge thats not working when i put the needle all the way up it wont go all the way down .. and when i do put it all the way down it goes up passed the E ... and it happens when it even unplugged

Might still be worth testing, though I do understand your point.
