Need HELP!! Please, alarm install remote start won't work.
I'm installingmy Avital alarm and I'm testing it before I put everything back together but the remote start feature will not work!? (I know it's not recommended on MT but no one else drives my car ever, Im very careful and I will make a kill switch useing the shift gear later on. I jumped the clutch switch but only the parking lights blink like they should. The rest of the alarm seams to work ok. I have the dash out and everything else so I'm just working with harnesses. I spliced the wires per the install manual and reference material of the color codes. Can anyone please give me ideas what to do? I would hate to have spent so much truble and waited so long and install everything back without fixing the remote start. Please?!
1. Does the unit prestart? Prestart, then stop? Prestart and grind? Does nothing?
***When I press start on the remote, the unit blinks the parking lights 3 times and thats it. Then about 30 seconds later arms the alarm. No grinding.

2. Do you have a tach reference established, and programmed into the unit?
*** The manual says start the car untill warm, turn of than on agan and within 10 seconds switch the valet switch 14 times and press start. Tried that and got the confirmation 3 light blinks. Tried the remote start after and nothing.

3. Is the hood open, brake, sensor bypass, door trigger inputs active?
*** Tried with all closed, no sensor bypass. The 2 zone is the propriatary type harnessed and works well. Haven't attached it to the car. Door triggers connected.

4. Is the key sense / crank *anti-grind* installed per the manual?
There is no anti grind feature besides the idle RPM programming I mentioned in aswer to question 1. Key sense? Hummm.. is that the small black box at the base of the ignition key switch? The one that tells the car the key is in and activates the buzzer? Do I need to bypass that? How?

5. Is it programmed correctly for the remote key fob buttons?
*** There is no programming that disables the remote star if that is what you mean.

6. Is the inline fuse in place, and not open?
*** Haven't connected the inline fuses I just connect the + wires with gator pins and such to test. I did have a problem which I can't understand. I was testing and testing but all of a sudden the siren wouldn't work. I tried reseting the alarm ECU and check the siren connections but it came back once I turned on the car for a while and turned it off. Like the battery had low voltage. It's a new Optima so I cant understand if there is something draining the battery. The LED on the alarm would stay on all the time when this happend.
Teken, thank you so much for your help. I really apreciate when someone takes the time like you have.

Ok I'll check the colors tomorrow morning. The purple and yellow wires were connected to the starter wire blk/yel with crimp connectors. One thing is that I connected them at a wire harness in the hood. Do I need to connect them close to the ignition switch or is it ok to do it at the harness in the hood? The Tach wire I think I could make a better connection, I'll redo that and verify the voltage. I haven't connected the trunk wire because I'm opening and closing it a lot but I'll check the hood connection. The break wire, I'll check that too. Don't have factory alarm. The programming I tried for my alarm is 14 beeps, but I have disconnected it since so I'll have to reprogram it. I'll try and post tomorrow my findings. Thanks again. Hopefully with some help I'll get this done tomorrow, if not Labour day weekend will suck. Thanks again man.
It's the AVITAL 6000. I know it's old like hell but it has good features, it was cheap and it's been in a box since I bought it. Plus I bought it before knowing anything about alarms.. hehehe.
How about ?

Ok thanks to your awesome advice I got the remote start anbd everything else working. Now I'm kind of confused on how to use the relays to trigger the sirens. I am going to mount two piezo sirens inside, very small ones, and the factory siren in the hood and air horns. They will all have a + feed to the relay and the trigger will be the alarm output. What I cant figure out is how to wire the alarm trigger because it is a - output!? I think I'm a bit nervous at this point and do not want to ruin anything and can't think straight. Please help.
