92' Prelude Si, Digital Fuel/Temp Gauge and more..
Yo all, my beautiful 92' Prelude Si has had problems with its Dig. Fuel/Temp Gauge since I bought it not too long ago (bout 2-4 months). It has NEVER worked since I bought the car. Just wondering how I should go about finding all potential problems it could be and how to fix them.. Get into the other things I need to tink with later, I need sleep lol. Ill post pics of my car soon too lol. Im new btw did you notice? :-P Kool forums, one of my classmates directed me here.
what is the problem with it? does it show anything at all? mine had a problem with the brightness and when i put the dimmer to brightest, it would look like some of the bulbs are burnt out. My gauge cluster was also the same so i fixed it by swapping to the EL gauge cluster and harness and everything works fine now.
If you look on the internet, you can find a full shop manual for a 93 Lude. The 92-96 are all 4th gen.
Anyway, it appears that there is a single wire harness that runs across the top of the dash and plugs into a controller box on the driver side floor board. It is behind the plastic and in front of the door, right by your feet. All of the harnesses plug in to the skinny sides except for the dash harness, which sticks out from the lid (toward your legs). Make sure it is plugged in.
There is a plug on the back of each of the digital guages, but since they are both out, this is unlikely the problem. So, the cable continues across the dash to the passenger floorboard. In almost the same position on the passenger side as the driver side, but a bit higher, there is a single, fat connector. Make sure that is plugged in.
Beyond this, you will need a voltmeter and the shop manual plus some patience.
