safest way to go about this
build is in the sig, need to drive my car about 45 miles (both ways) to get a new DP put on then another 45 miles to get tuned. right now it has stock injectors (my 450s were running rich) and a basemap for a stock gsr. i unhooked the vacuum line from the internal wastegate so it wont boost, should it be safe to drive those distances on the freeway? or would taking the more scenic route be better? any advice would be welcome, i know the best thing would be to get a tow truck but i really dont have the $.
pulling the wastegate line off will make it never stop building boost put the line back on and drive it nice i wouldnt worry about it as long as your not smashing on it lol
thought disconecting the wastegate line pretty much turned off the wastegate so it would not boost at all? thanks for clearing that up, woulda sucked to keep building boost lol. anything i can do to prevent it from boosting? i just like to be cautious

tow it. is it really worth it to risk your motor for $100? taking off the wastegate line would cause the motor to boost until exhaust pressure overcomes the flapper. stop being cheap.
What most people do, and this will work great as you are running stock injectors with a stock GSR map, disconnect one of the couplers by the throttle body so no air is forced into the throttle body, it just sucks air as if the car was NA, thus you don't even have a chance to get into boost.
or Option B: Trailer it to the place to get the downpipe made and then trailer to the tuning shop.
Either of these options will work, and neither will blow the motor, unless of course you don't disconnect the charge piping in Option A.

I have always heard you can over spin a turbo if you disconnect the charge piping.....although I have no first hand experience its something you might want to look into....pm theshodan, he seems to be a turbo guru and would probably know
IMO you should just tow it

Common misconception of overspinning turbo, however if wastegate is routed properly directly to turbo housing then wastegate controls turbo rpms. No wastegate no control. The wastegate diverts exhaust energy away from the turbo to keep it boosting a preset level.
but I thought the wastegate wouldnt open until it reached its set pressure?
....on a side note, I have seen people disconnect internal wastegates and wire them open to avoid building boost
