I don't know what's wrong with my car. I've talked to my friend who's a tech at Totoya. He came over and had a look at it but he couldn't figure out the problem. He drove the car but the problem only happens spontaneously.

Problems

-Lately been having weird idle. Even when engine is warmed up it idles at 1100-1200RPM only happens sometimes. Other time it idles fine.

-Idle drops to 600rpm (almost stalling out) and flutuates back up to 800rpm.

Bigger problem

-I will engage the clutch in first gear but the rpms drop drastically fast and doesn't grab the gear. AKA I can't ride the clutch to engage the gear. All it does is drop way below where it should be grabbing. I then throw it into 2nd gear to try to catch but it does the same thing.

-When this happens I rev the rpms really high to engage gear. 4000RPM - 5000RPM.

-This just happend recently as the problem is getting worse. I will be getting into 3rd gear and the gear will grab but then it will dis-engage and bog the car. Then catch the gear again.

What do I need to check? Is this a tranny problem, vacuum or air problem? =(

 

It's happend in reverse also. Can't ride the clutch in reverse, the rpms will just drop about to stall..

 

foo dats weird kuz i kinda hav da same thing 2 like my kar idles it goes p 2 2000rpm n drop dwn 2 900 rpm n goes up i think its da vacuum hose jst check dat n prolly ur synchros r bad

 

What year, engine, set up?

Is the CEL ON?

 

^ It's just a JDM D15b all stock. No CEL. However the cluster is swapped so I really don't know.

Update: Car just idled 1100RPM continuously, even after shutting down the car.

Can the idle itself alone be causing all these problems?

 

Are you saying that the CEL does not work?

Try cleaning the IACV and FITV on the throttle body.
