Default clutch/transmission issues

97 del Sol VTEC w 75K miles:

If I fully depress and hold the clutch while idling in 1st gear the car will go into gear after 3-4 seconds and stall. It has also started to chatter while at low RPM's when accelerating. If I launch/shift at higher RPM, all is fine.

Does anyone what might be the cause? Hopefully there might be some things to try before replacing the clutch.

Sounds like you might have air bubbles in the clutch line and causing the slave cylinder to loose pressure and release? Low rpm chatter sounds like the throw out bearing is bad.

I did add fluid to the clutch reservoir recently so maybe it is air bubbles.

your clutch resovoir is a sealed system so any lose of fluid will result in a leak somewhere. find that leak which more then likely is on the slave cylinder

what kind of fluid did you use? just asking since i have seen some crazy things. lol

I put in DOT 4 brake fluid. I could not find the leak but the reservoir level has dropped since I last filled it so it must be somewhere. Also, I noticed my CV boot is torn and am wondering if it could be related to my problem.

i believe the chatter to be the main shaft bearing.. not the throw out.. as many think that its the throw out.. it will not fix the chatter.. rear main seal.. and main shaft bearing is your best bet..

either way it sounds like a big labor bill to fix. The car has been fine the last couple of days so I wonder if the air bubble have worked themselves out of the system.

i'm from malaysia and i drive a jdm civic eg9 (B16A). it was auto for a while b4 i swapped it out for a manual. the manual tranny is a s4c with lsd. i noticed that it's getting hard to engage and there's fluid leaking from the clutch master as well as slave cylinder. I'd like to do a diy. any help on diagrams and oem part numbers for the replacement parts?
