Default Please help on getting my b20v started.

Editing my post.. We tried again this morning, It seems to be only running on one cylinder, number 4. It did the same thing on my previous ls motor. Soo it's making me think its the head, perhaps valves are sticking open?

ill get straight to the point. The motor cranks over but wont start, only the number 4 cylinder seems to get spark. All the other plugs are clean and smell of fuel.

Timing should be correct as my friend just did his lsvtec and its running good.
We have spark, although I want to make sure of something. Its a new dizz for a gsr
Compression is what im concerned about. Also im wondering if my number 4 injector is not pulsing and just flooding.

Everything was running fine with the my b18b motor, we attached my vtec head right after i got it ported with a 3 angle valve job, and it did exactly on that motor as it's doing on the b20 bottom.

if a video or pics are needed i can do that.

Really appreciate any help.

Sounds like a Distributor problem

What ECU are you using?

1) Double check the timing and Distributors Firing Order
2) Switch distributors with your buddy to see if that could be a problem
3) Make sure you distributor wires are not cut or anything

Thanks for your reply

Ive tried both my ls ecu, and currently im using a chipped ecu with a basemap for my setup, I have a phearable chip i still need to put in though. The ls ecu started my friends lsvtec so id assume that wouldnt be a issue.

the timing was done by my friend with the lsvtec, I think were good there..but for sure will check it out.

Ill check up on the wires and firing order right now.

My number 4 ports show to be black also, (last time the head was taken off for inspection) all the rest were clean. like a oily substance...im thinking that injector is clogged/dirty from my last motor. Had a exhaust leak on the corner of my head near intake...need to get a another injector. Or try and have it cleaned.

Checked the firing order, its all good, along with the wires.

I switched injectors to see if that was causing the black plug, and it wasnt. Number 4 cylinder still shows up all black to the top. Im thinking oil is getting in there. The motor seem to almost want to start after switching the injector..then went to sh*t

Im using a cometic 85mm nonvtec gasket. My machine shop told me i was cutting it real close to having a oil leak using that gasket, soo i assume there's the reason for that, but still..a motor should start on 3 as ive been told.

All my grounds are good.

Time to take off the head again, I have no clue now what gasket to use with 85mm bore...if that is whats causing a leak.

check your o-rings...thats one way for oil to get into your sparkplugs. do a compression test. its pointless to take off the head if you dont even know if its bad or not

I think it's my timing actually.. my friend set the cam marks align with each other, then began to turn the crank to tighten the belt, I was reading on what you were saying about setting the timing...The head has been resurfaced twice, previous time was to remove a scratch. Also the block was resurfaced.

That cylinder is actually firing and just fouling out the plug. Thankfully it's not oil and the gasket is doing its job.

Going to attempt at the timing myself tomorrow morning.

MOTOR RUNS..Valves were to tight
