How would one go about flushing the pipes? I've heard many techs and diy'ers say the easiest is the brake clean and compressed air method just disconnect at the compressor and at the dryer. Any truth in this? No other things to look out for?

possible blockage in the pipes. high side went over 300 with fan on and compressed air at the condensor.

high pressure high side is possibly blockage..but did you check the easy thing first?

you said fan comes on... is it blowing towards the motor?

is your condenser all covered in bugs?

are you gettign good airflow across your condenser?...

make sure the car isnt overheating.

also dont go over the limit on freon...that will cause high pressure as well.

what are both readings?..high and low?
