I jsut installed a water temp gauge, and it fluctuates between 150 degrees and 180 sometimes. Is this normal to see it fluctuate sometimes 30 degrees up and down?

If you have a 180 thermostat it should stay at 180. It may be weak and not operating good enough. They are cheap and easy to fix.

 

well the car stays consistant at about 150-160. but when i stop and let it idle it gets up to 180. COuld it be the thermostat? i thought i replaced that like 10000km ago. I just got a new rad cap the other day before the gauge installation, maybe its the wrong one?

 

Sounds to me like the thermostat may be hangin up. My 4 door dd would do that. Changed he thermostat and been good ever since

 

Replace the thermostat, bleed the system, and make sure your fan is working properly.
