Just under 1/2 is where it SHOULD be sitting. Have you replaced your thermostat recently? It could have been stuck open and somehow it got un-stuck and is now working properly.
Engines run better and are more efficient when at proper operating temperature. On the water temp gauge, that is just under the 1/2 way mark.

i thougt it was mine thermostat too....but i just change a brand new one....and still sit at lil under 1/2...it suppose too be a good thing????????

nope, could be a lot of things wrong with your cooling system. perhaps a headgasket?
It goes down when you floor it because when the engine is under more stress, the water pump will be working harder and thus the coolant circulates faster.

what exactly do you think would cause that? acura says nothing is wrong when I know this isnt normal. im goin to change the tstat, but im def not a car guy.

So if it's just below half way... you're good.
