you need z6 head studs. just use the water pump that on it or replace it with a new one for the d15b2. and as far as the tensioner buy a new d15b2 tensioner.

the z6 and y8 head gaskets and timing belts are the same so you have the right ones... there's a oil jet thats on the blocks deck on the firewall side in the middle. you have to take that out cuz the head has one in it and if you don't take it out it wont pop vtec. you can take this out with anything from a pick to a screw.

just get a tensioner to replace it, and then dont get head bolts, they are pretty much a one time use. so if you mess up they are pretty much stretched out, Head studs allow for you to take the head off over and over again. SO there is no worrying about if you mess up. as for water pump just replace your current one. There is no need to get a different one at all.

i was also searching for this info for the same swap. Thanks all that helped. Also wondering about ecu change? coming from a dx crx with dpfi.

im gunna convert to obd1 useing the p28 ecu, i've heard of ppl running the pm6 si ecu which is obd0 to simplify the wireing process if u ask me tho ill avoid taking that route, the ecu isnt meant to run a vtec engine

thats what I figured. So i will need to do a bit of wiring as well. Can I use all the z6 stuff you have and then just buy or do my own obd0-->obd1 wiring conversion?

yea the easiest way would be to get your harness done professionally thats gunna run anywhere from $160. all the way up to like 300 at the most i've seen but that will make it a plug and play deal as far the wiring. or you can do it your self way cheaper if your comfortable with your wiring and have the time

I have done wiring before so ill just need to invest in a little bit of material to do the job right.

The easiest way to do the wiring is do the dpfi to mpfi swap yourself. It's easy only takes 4 wires and then get an obd0-obd1 jumper harness. Then you're mpfi and obd1 ready. That's the easiest and cheapest route. If you're doing the mpfi and vtec swap then get an obd1 dizzy (if using the Z6 head you HAVE to use the Z6 dizzy, if using the Y8 head use any obd1 dizzy EXCEPT Z6). Get the plugs from an obd1 harness for the dizzy as your plugs from your obd0 harness don't have enough pins and won't plug into the obd1 dizzy.

And the rule of thumb is use the timing belt from the head you're using, the y8 head gasket is the best to use since it's mls and it works on all d series engines (not sure about the newer d17). Always use the water pump and tension for the block you have not the head since they both bolt to the block.

Good luck fellas, I love my D15/Y8 mini-me. Boost is coming soon.

when doin the dpfi to mpfi swap do you use the dpfi injecter wires? im already obd1 but the write ups i find tell me to use a resistor box.

How are you OBD1 already and running DPFI?

Anyway - guessing you need to do the MPFI wiring still.
Yes, you use the 2 injector wires and you add a couple more for the other 2 injectors for MPFI.

Doesn't matter what OBD you are for the resistor box. OBD1 and OBD0 can both use the resistor box.
You need only use a resistor box if you are running low impedance injectors. It just happens to be that the OBD0 engines ahd them. SOME fo the OBD1 engines (Preluds, Accord) used low impedance injectors as well, but more of them used high impedance.
If you are using the Z6 or Y8 injectors on your mini-me then you most deffinitely do NOT use the box.

no i ment that i already wired it to be obd1 cuz its the z6 dizzy and i wanted to run a p28 so i can tune it. would it run funky if i do run the resistor box with the z6 injecters?

resistor box is a little grey rectangel that runs off of the wires to your injectors. just trace the wires from the injectors to find it
