Default Em1 block code, not original ?

i have in my possesion a very stock 99 Si, (airbox, stock exhaust). upon inspecting i noticed the block code reads.

B16
serial number

Shouldnt this read b16a2????

i can only assume the short block has been changed???

A jdm b16 sais B16A. So it might not be a jdm.

usdm says b16a2, jdm says b16a, not sure what it means if it just says b16 with no a. mine from hmotors says b16a, then where the 2 would be there is a very faint HMO stamp.

if the serial number starts with a 5, it is an SiRII motor, if it starts with a 1 it is an SiR motor.

That's not a USDM block, therefore not the original. It's foreign, most likely JDM.

If it's running fine I wouldn't worry at all, unless there is an inspection issue (smog/ref or whatever).

nope, not the original motor, but pretty close. as long as the sensors were changed to keep it obd2b, it should be fine.

I see, what kind of car/year is this motor from?

Is it possible its just the older block with 99 si head on it?? if thats even possible?

What sensors should be different?
