Default 93 civic IAT and O2 sensor problem

Hi
Today we checked the CEL and it said IAT sensor signal high and O2 sensor heater problem.
So should i replace both sensors to fix this problem?
And also where is IAT sensor located exactly?
Thank you

What engine?

IAT can be cleaned but it might need replaced. B16's have them on the intake pipe. B18's are in the intake manifold runner just before the head. Not sure about D-series.

www.hondapartsdeals.com has nice factory schematics to track it down.

Replace the O2....

www.rockauto.com has excellent prices.

It may not be the sensors themselves... I posted troubleshooting flow charts for the IAT in this thread https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/will-codes-make-so-vtec-wont-engage-2602702/

Run through the troubleshooting first before you spend money on new sensors as it could be a wiring problem.

Agreed. I too would test them first.

I see on the d16y7, the IAT sensor is near the air filter. I have short ram on mine... so could it be that i don't have IAT sensor not plugged and hiding somewhere?

No, D16Z6 the IAT sensor is on the back side of the intake manifold (more towards the drivers side.)

It is #11 in the picture below.

wtf its on the back of the manifold? ive never seen it there lol. But ya i suggest you get a new one if your one is giving you a problem. But it could just be that it popped out or the plug came off.

When it comes to sensors I always buy OE from the dealer. I guess the only exception would maybe be O2 sensors as long as its a quality brand like Bosch.

This IAT sensor is like $16 MSRP from the dealer. Any cool parts guy should hook it up for $13-$14. Honda part number 37880-P05-A00

Our next step is to troubleshoot your O2 CEL. Follow the steps in the following flow chart, let me know if you have any questions or if you run into any issues.

If you replace the O2 sensor without doing the troubleshooting in the charts, then you might unnecessarily replace a good sensor and be right back where you are now.

X2

See that is the problem with a lot of peoples attempts to fix a CEL, they don't troubleshoot the system but just start throwing parts at it. Me on the other hand, if I ever get a CEL I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it is a damn short or something. Its so much nicer to fix something with some wire I have laying around, a little solder and heat shrink, and electrical tape to re-loom the harness. Because that repair would cost me nothing but some time. Much better IMO than spending sometimes hundreds on parts just to have the same issue.

And that is also why I have no problem walking people through TRUE troubleshooting. These flow charts is why FACTORY service manuals are the ****, and $20 Chilton or Hayes manuals suck *****.

Yup Yup,

Always Trouble shoot things first, if you throw parts at a car you'll be pissed when you buy a part n it doesn't fix it, then you find out it was a loose connection or sumthin simple...
