Default Will the codes make it so VTEC wont engage?

9 CYP - cylinder sensor
10 IAT - intake air temperature sensor

If so how do and where is the cylinder sensor plug? and where di I get one. This is all for my obd 1 gsr block with b16 head motor and my vtec dont engage? and its all wired up correctly I think can I get a diagram I tryed searching but cant find the correct one.

The CYP is an internal component of the dizzy. These codes could cause your ECU to go into limp mode which = no VTEC.

I'm at work right now so I don't have access to the troubleshooting flow charts.

Fix these CELs and you should be good. Did these come up right after doing the swap or was the motor running fine for a while and they just came up?

What ECU? Who did the wiring? Did they know what they were doing? Why do you have those codes?

What type of car is this in? This would be an important peice of info. Make sure you include the year in your response. Wiring diagrams depend on the year of the chassis, usually.

CYP code usually results in a 3k rev limiter or a non running car all together. It's in the distributor.

The IAT is a very important sensor...but VTEC will operate without it, IIRC.

Its a 1995 Honda Civic CX

A Buddy did the wiring and vtec worked before I did the b16 head swap.
And no my car still goes all the way up in the revs.

When you did the head swap did you use the dizzy that was on the car before? The CYP code is the reason your VTEC isn't working, limp mode sucks. The IAT issue is important to fix as well but as stated it wont prevent VTEC from working.

I will see what I can do to get you the troubleshooting flow charts for your build once I get off work. You have a multimeter and know how to use it well?

There ya go, bust out the multimeter and run through the flow charts. Fix these two CELs and you will have your VTEC back..

NP. Just run through the flow charts and you will be able to fix both of these CELs. Let me know if you need any more help.

So your swap is OBD-II? Any B-series VTEC dizzy will bolt right up. Depending on what you get you may need to rewire it, which is simple since all you are doing is basically replacing the wiring clip with one that matches your engine harness (like using the one off your dizzy that is on there now that is bad). Non-VTEC dizzys will also work, however you will need to cut off one of the legs to get it to bolt up (the lower one that points towards the passenger cabin).

So running through the flowchart the results point to a bad CYP sensor huh?

What were the results of the tests of the IAT system?
